Inviting Users to a Qbox Sync Folder

There are two ways to invite someone to a Sync folder in your Qbox account. The first and most common method is to invite someone as a shared user. Shared users are invited to just one folder at a time and can use a private email domain (e.g., name@abcorganization.com) or a public email domain with Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, Outlook, etc.

The second option is to invite someone as a Team Member. Team members are invited to all of the folders an Account Owner, or team member with admin permission, has created in their Qbox account. Team members must use an email address with the same private email domain (e.g., name@abcorganization.com) as the account owner or team member with admin permission. Adding team members will not be an available option if the account owner is using a public email domain address.

Account owners and team members with admin permissions can initiate sharing invitations for a Sync folder. The following instructions will help you share a Sync folder and select a sharing permission for shared users and team members.

Sharing Permissions:

Read Only (R/O): Check the R/O box if you want the user to only view the shared files and not make any changes. Any changes they make to the shared files will not be synced.

Shared User ‘Admin’: Admin permission for a shared user allows them to make changes to the shared files, as well as create or delete subfolders, delete files in the shared folder, and roll back files. The changes they make to the shared files can be synced.

Team Member ‘Admin’: Admin permission for a team member allows them to make changes to the shared files, as well as create or delete Sync folders and subfolders, delete files in the shared folder, release file locks, add and remove shared users, roll back files, and pay bills for the owner’s account. The changes they make to the shared files can be synced.

Regular Read/Write (default): The user will be invited to simply view and make changes to the shared files. The changes they make to the shared files can be synced.

  3. Locate the Sync folder you would like to share on the right-hand side and click the green button under the ‘Share’ column.
  4. Enter the email address of the user(s) to be invited in the text box(es) provided on the bottom half of the pop-up sharing screen. Please note that a shared user invitation can be sent to any email domain.

How to Invite Team Members:

  1. Log into your account at the Qbox website (www.coraltreetech.com/qbox) as the Account Owner of the folder or as a Team Member with Admin rights.

  4. Enter the email address of the team member(s) to be invited in the text box(es) provided on the bottom half of the pop-up screen. Please note that a team member invitation can only be sent to an individual with the same private email domain.
  5. Select a sharing permission for the team member.
  6. Click ‘Send Invitation’.

If the invited user has already signed up for and installed Qbox, the folder will immediately be created in their Qbox Client/Explorer.

New users will receive an email invitation that will include a link to sign up for a Qbox account through the Qbox website. Alternatively, the new user can sign up for an account at the Qbox website (www.coraltreetech.com/qbox) without waiting for the email invitation. After signing up and setting up their Qbox account on the website, new users should simply install the Qbox Client/Explorer on their computer and sign into it to access the folder that was shared with them. We recommend sending the new user our Shared User Setup document for detailed instructions to help them get started on Qbox.
