Which QuickBooks files are synced to the cloud?

Qbox syncs both the QBW and the TLG files, as recommended by Intuit. The various other files and folders created by QuickBooks are not synced and remain in the user's local storage. Qbox will not sync the QBB (backup), QBA (accountants copy), or QBM (portable) files that can be created in QuickBooks. These are not required for real-time collaboration using Qbox and need to be saved in folders outside of Qbox.

What is the TLG File?

The TLG or Transaction Log File is used by QuickBooks for error recovery. The TLG file increases in size every time you enter transactions. When you do a backup in single-user mode, with verification set to on, QuickBooks uses the information in the TLG file for any error recovery and minimizes the size of the TLG file.

Can I use Qbox if I import transactions from my bank or credit card?

You can continue to import transactions to your QuickBooks company file from online services like Bank and Credit Card. The file needs to be locked in Qbox before transactions can be imported. To import, open the company file in QuickBooks and lock the file in Qbox. Next, sync or import transactions from your online service. Then close the file to sync it in Qbox and share the changes with other users.

Can I use Qbox with QuickBooks POS (Point of Sale)?

You can integrate QuickBooks POS (Point of Sale) to sync end-of-day transactions to the QuickBooks company file in Qbox. First, open and lock the company file and then sync the POS transactions. Once syncing is done, close the company file to sync the transactions to Qbox and to other shared users. Please note that QuickBooks POS will need to be configured to link with the company file in the Qbox directory, which is displayed in the text box at the top of the Qbox Client/Explorer.

Can I set up Qbox on my laptop to access QuickBooks MU (multi-user) at work and SU (single-user) while remote?

You can set up Qbox on your Windows laptop to access your QuickBooks company files on a network server in multi-user mode while you are in your office, and from the laptop's local storage while you are traveling or working from home. This is done by creating two Windows user profiles on the laptop and installing Qbox with different email addresses on each profile.

  1. For the user profile you use in the office, install Qbox with the email address that has the same private domain as other users in the office. Setup Qbox MU to access the common folder on the network server to access QuickBooks company files in multi-user mode along with the other users in the office.
  2. For the user profile you use while remote, install Qbox with a different email address, which can be any private or public domain. Setup Qbox SU and locate the folder on a local drive such as the C: drive to access QuickBooks company files locally.
  3. Please note that the Qbox Sync folder needs to be shared with these emails as a team member or shared user.
  4. Login to the corresponding Windows profile for office or remote use, depending on your location.

I created a new company in QuickBooks. Why is it getting set up in a new Qbox Sync folder?

When you create a new company, QuickBooks saves it in the same folder from which you accessed the previous company file by default. You need to specify a different folder to save the file to while creating the new company if you would like it saved elsewhere.

How do I share multi-user QuickBooks company files using Qbox?

Users in an office on a local network using QuickBooks in multi-user mode can use Qbox to share the company file with remote users. They need to set up ‘Qbox MU’ to access the company file located on a server or a peer computer. Please refer to our Qbox MU help document for detailed instructions on setting up Qbox for multi-user access.

How do I share QuickBooks attachments using Qbox?

QuickBooks attachments created by users can be shared using Qbox. This is done by enabling the sharing of the ‘Attach’ folder created by QuickBooks, located in the same directory path where the company file(s) are located. Please note that the attach folder is billed separately, in addition to the Sync folder.

Please refer to our QuickBooks Attachments help document for detailed instructions on how to share attachments using Qbox.
