Part Five- Reasons You May Not Be Ready to Move Your Accounting to the Cloud

In this series we have covered some of the reasons people are apprehensive about moving their accounting to the cloud including the following;

As an end user of accounting software, these are all legitimate questions/considerations that should preclude a desktop software user from moving to a cloud based solution if any promised additional functionalities are not needed.  In the final part of our series we cover what is probably the most important question.

 

Part Five-“So can I have the best of both worlds?” (desktop and cloud)

There is of course a very significant push by major software providers to move their users to a cloud based platform.  Although those options do in some cases provide some potentially useful features for a desktop user, the reality is, the software providers make substantially more money from a user of an online solution and so there will continue to be a very heavy push in this direction.

However, you will always be the client and will have the option to choose which resource makes the most sense for your accounting needs.  Regardless of the promotion by software providers or active bloggers that may try to convince you that by not moving to the cloud you are “missing out”, “simply opposed to change”, or “behind the times”.

If you are an accounting professional or bookkeeper, the best news is that you do have a full “menu” of resources that will allow you to best serve the needs of your clients.  If you are like me, you are always willing to hear about solutions that may make a task easier but at the end of the day you want to choose the option/solution that works best for you.
